The Trust advocacy team today joined Save the Palace Melbourne in the gallery of Victoria’s Legislative Council at Parliament House. Donned in shirts emblazoned with the Save the Palace Message, we watched on as Planning Minister Matthew Guy responded to a question about mandatory height controls and the impact that the redevelopment of the Palace Theatre would have on live music in Melbourne. Amidst a cacophony of interjections, Minister Guy passionately reiterated the Government’s commitment to mandatory height controls for the Bourke Hill precinct, which he argued would be the most effective way of protecting the historic theatre.
