This week Melbourne C198 comes under the spotlight as the Planning Panel reviews submissions to the forty places and five precincts recommended for the heritage overlay. We are supporting the City at the Panel and have an expert witness. The City of Melbourne has undertaken a number of strategic studies in the last couple of years to add places to the heritage overlay. It is to be congratulated on the work, which includes C186 (99 places recommended, later reduced by the Minister for Planning by removal of ten post-war places; C207 Arden-McCaulay, now awaiting gazettal; and a forthcoming Panel to consider protection for more than 100 significant trees.
